Anyone been able to find the new smart antennas for digital tv convertors?
Electronically controllable/steerable “smart antennas” are currently very scarce. One of the very few CEA-909-compliant “smart antennas” you’ll find is Channel Master’s 3000A SMARTenna™. I recommend copying the quoted text “Channel Master – SMARTenna™ (3000A)” (with and again without quotes) into Google and Yahoo! search engines to search for dealers and related information.
The lack of CEA-909-compliant TVs and DTV converter boxes is almost assuredly playing a significant role in the dearth of smart antennas in the marketplace. Another factor, though to a lesser extent, was that manufacturers likely decided to delay the release of any new VHF/UHF smart antennas pending the release of the Consumer Electronics Association’s newly revised antenna testing standard, CEA-774, which now covers CEA-909-compliant smart antennas. It is my expectation that consumers will begin to see more DTV “smart antennas” on the market within 5 to 12 months.
